This week’s Weekly Watch is a little bit different than usual. This week due to unforeseeable circumstances (pirctures below) Chelsey and I were unable to film. So instead we watched a few youtube videos and then a movie. The movie of course was The Love Witch. More on that below.

The Love Witch
A few weeks ago we watched the Brows Held High video on The Love Witch. Both Chelsey and I couldn’t stop thinking about it and we decided to watch the film. Last night we did and well… oh boy. The Love Witch is something that you need to experience. From a cinematography point of view alone the movie is amazing, the use of colour, the style… it’s just a joy to look at.
Then there is the story. Elaine moves to a new town to escape her past. She’s also looking for love. She uses her abilities as a witch to seduce some men. It goes… weird. Other than that I was delighted that I had no idea where the story was going to go.
The movie tackles a lot of things specifically about femininity. This is a film that’s going to be talked about in feminist film theory courses for years.
So yeah, watch it. On a big TV. It’s worth it.
