I have a friend who’s favourite plot is Pride and Prejudice. He loves the story about the guy who is kind of a douche who meets a girl and she helps him overcome his douchey ways, so as you can guess he loves most “chick flicks” I use that phrase loosely. Ironically he had never actually read or seen any of the adaptations of P&P.
I wouldn’t say that I have a favourite plot. I get bored if novels and movies seem to be recycling the same material to me over and over. That being said I do like elements of certain plots that relate more to specific genres. I love High Fantasy Novels so of course I love the whole idea of the Hero’s Quest. As I’ve said I wouldn’t exactly classify that a specific plot, maybe more of an outline or framework for a story to be built on top of.
That being said there are a lot of people and books *cough* Eragon *cough* that take the Hero’s Quest and the novels that have come out before as more of a blueprint then a set of guidelines. My rant on that can be found here.
I love books in the fantasy genre that are able to update, change and develop the blueprints. I like to be surprised and I like to see the genre turned on it’s head.
