I found myself writing a speech for my best friend’s wedding and in need of some quotes on love. While in search of the perfect quote, I found a thousand quotes that were not perfect for the speech, but deserved to be shared. Here are the love quotes that wrecked me.
“I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.” ― The Fault in Our Stars by John Greene
“All my life, my heart has yearned for a thing I cannot name.” — Andre Breton, “Mad Love”
“I would love to say that you make me weak in the knees but to be quite upfront and completely truthful you make my body forget it has knees at all.” ― Love Language, Chasers of the Light by Tyler Knott Gregson
“Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.”― Nicole Krauss, “The History of Love“
“You might not have been my first love, but you were the love that made all the other loves irrelevant” ― milk and honey by Rupi Kaur
“The way her body existed only where he touched her. The rest of her was smoke.” ― The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
“Love is the voice under all silences, the hope which has no opposite in fear; the strength so strong mere force is feebleness: the truth more first than sun, more last than star…”― e.e. Cummings
“I love you, and that’s the beginning and end of everything.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, “Dear Scott, Dearest Zelda: The Love Letters of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald”
“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”― Pablo Neruda, “100 Love Sonnets”
