Top Ten Tuesday is back!
For those who don’t know, the Top Ten Tuesday Tag is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:
TOP TEN HYPED BOOKS I’VE NEVER READ
I have a really hard time keeping up with book releases, but I really do try. I have my Want to Read list on goodreads and multiple lists in all of my notebooks.
See, I’ve managed to make some progress! With that being said, the reason these books are on this list is not because I’ve avoided them, it’s because they’ve somehow managed to slip through the cracks and be forgotten while I’ve moved on to read other things. I’ll hopefully get around to them soon.

10. CINDER – MARISSA MEYER
A steampunk retelling of Cinderella? That’s like two of my favourite things. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this series, yet somehow this book has been sitting on my bookshelf gathering dust for years. Hopefully I’ll get around to it before Winter comes out in November.

9. ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE – ANTHONY DOERR
This book was EVERYWHERE. There were signs for it on the subway, there were adds for it in the newspaper. People were reading it on the streets. EVERYWHERE! I took one look at the hold list on the library website and decided to come back to it later. Then promptly forgot about it (I seem to do that a lot). I’ll get around to it, eventually. I think.

8. LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA (GENTLEMEN BASTARD) – SCOTT LYNCH
This one goes without saying. I know I’ll probably love it. Yes I’ll get around to it. Moving on.
7. THRONE OF GLASS – SARAH J. MAAS
Everyone and their brother have been telling me to read this book. Well everyone but Chelsey, who didn’t really like it. I’m currently in the middle of A Court of Thorns and Roses and am liking it. So maybe it’s time to go back and see where Sarah J. Maas came from. If you’re interested in a review of the series check out #Thunderbolt’s review here.

6. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO – STEIG LARSSON
I loved the movies, but still need to read the book. The size is a little daunting but I’m ready for a challenge.

5. THE GOLDFINCH – DONNA TARTT
I’ve been told that this book had a lot of hype, but I somehow managed to completely avoid it. During the Toronto Book Festival I got talking to a few people while waiting for a signing and they told me this was an adult novel that was written in the style of YA. I decided to read it, and you know the drill. Promptly forgot about it.

4. BOSSYPANTS – TINA FEY
I love memoirs, and I love Tina Fey. SO WHY HAVE I NOT READ THIS BOOK? I’ve even read Yes Please and I knew next to nothing about Amy Poehler. I really need to get on this.

3. ROOM – EMMA DONOGHUE
This is the only book on this list that I’ve actually avoided on purpose. I do want to read it, but I know that I need to be in the right mindset to do so. The subject matter that it deals with is dark. Room got a lot of rave from critics but has mixed reviews on goodreads.

2. ANIMAL FARM – GEORGE ORWELL
I really really liked 1984 and I wrote a review that I was super proud of (but I lost it in a website hack. Back up your websites kids). Yet somehow after all of this, I haven’t read anything else by Orwell. Does that make me an awful human being?

1. THE MAZE RUNNER – JAMES DASHNER
I have not read The Maze Runner. I really should. I also should see the movie. I kind of dropped the ball on this one it seems.
There you have it, the top ten hyped books I’ve never read. What are yours? Did you manage to just forget about them like I did or did you avoid them for a reason?
Happy Reading!
