Sometimes my job can be pretty dull. I find myself sitting at my desk brainstorming video ideas or spending hours mindlessly browsing through the internet. Today’s Top Five Wednesday list is a reflection of that. I’ve had zombies on my mind a lot lately, specifically zombie survival guides. I’m not exactly sure why.
So today, Chelsey and I are talking about the characters who we would want to have with us during a zombie apocalypse.
Check out the sequel to this video here, where we talk about the characters we would never want with us during a zombie apocalypse. Ever.
Top Five Wednesday is a book tag started by GingerReadsLainey. Join the goodreads group to get each week’s topic and participate yourselves!

1. TANA FROM THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN – HOLLY BLACK
A zombie plague is kind of like a vampire plague… right? Tana is one of the most capable, practical and reliable heroines that we have seen in teen fiction in a while. If you watched our review on The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, then you know how the novel begins. Tana wakes up after a night of partying to find that she is the only one left alive in the house. Instead of losing her mind to panic (as I would), she calmly works through what had happened and creates a plan to get herself to safety. She has a good head for survival and she knows what she needs to do to keep it that way. You would hope that having her in your group, her abilities and luck would rub off on you.

2. JACE FROM THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS – CASSANDRA CLARE
You kind of need a bit of humour to keep you sane after the world ends. Remember rule 32 from Zombieland: enjoy the small things. He’s also really good at killing things. He’s also very good at being witty when he kills things. The ability to double task is a must.

3. SCARLETT MARCH FROM SISTERS RED – JACKSON PIERCE
Scarlett is very good at killing things… with axes. She’s a werewolf hunter, but we feel that her obsessive method of killing would be perfect for surviving the zombie apocalypse. She loves the hunt so much, you could just send her out there and things would get done.

4. KATNISS FROM THE HUNGER GAMES – SUZANNE COLLINS
Katniss has some awesome survival skills and she can get by on next to nothing. She knows how to hunt, which means there would always be food on the table. The question would be: which version of Katniss would you take? The pre-hunger games Katniss or the post hunger games. Both versions have slightly different strengths and weaknesses. For everything that Katniss learned while in the arena, she also experienced severe trauma, which could make survival even more difficult for her.

5. KATSA FROM GRACELING – KRISTIN CASHORE
Katsa is pretty indestructible, which is something that you would want in a character. Since Katsa is graced with survival we’re not sure a zombie bite would even infect her. This would make her the ultimate scavenger and scout in our group. Over the course of the novel Graceling, she picks up even more survival skills that would help keep the rest of us (who don’t have super powers) alive. Overall she’s a solid character to have with you when society falls to the horde.
