OH MY GOD THE FIRST TRAILER HAS FINALLY BEEN RELEASED!
I don’t know what to say. It looks interesting. I’m a little bit sad that it’s not in black and white. I’m interested in how they are going to portray the whole “colour blindness thing” but only time will tell.
From the trailer they are focusing a lot on the futuristic-ness of the society. When I originally read The Giver, it took me a while to realize that this book was science fiction. This was either because it masked the science-fiction-ness of itself so well or that I was too naive to realize what exactly was going on.
But as right now, mark me down as warily interested. This movie has the possibility of being a well done creepy revisit to a novel that traumatized me as a child or the usual hastily thrown together adaptations that we’ve seen over the last few years.
