It’s no secret that I love David Bowie. So when American Gods released promo pictures for episode five earlier today, I was extremely pleased.
We were first introduced to Gillian Anderson’s Media when she spoke to Shadow through the TV wearing the familiar and comforting face of Lucy from I Love Lucy. Well it turns out that that’s not the only face that Media can steal. Episode five calls for her to full glam rock.
According to Starz:
“Media assumes whatever form will deliver her message most effectively and is often personified by iconic celebrities.”
I love the idea that Media takes on the appearances of cultural icons. It gives the show runners and Gillian Anderson a lot of play around with. Bryan Fuller released a photo teasing some of Media’s looks. There is so much to look forward too.
During his decades spanning career David Bowie achieved rock and roll God-hood. So it only makes sense that American Gods would pay tribute to that. Gillian Anderson looks eerily accurate in Ziggy Stardust’s powder blue suit and orange mullet.
