As I write this I’m a little teary eyed.
The first trailer for John Green’s smash hit The Fault in Our Stars just hit the internet. Even though the trailer is surprisingly upbeat and optimistic I’m finding myself grappling for the tissue box. What does that say about me? That I’m a big crier. Yeah. That’s pretty accurate.
Goodreads summarizes the book as the following:
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
The Fault in Our Stars is a testament to how our relationships define us. Through her time wit Augustus Water’s Hazel learns how to live despite her disease. Normally I’m not one for the girl meets boy and he changes her life for the better in so many different ways, but TFiOS is different. It’s not Augustus who changes Hazel. Hazel changes Hazel.
If you haven’t read TFiOS yet, I highly recommend you go and check it out. This is one that you don’t want to miss. It’s sweet, it’s heartbreaking and it’s everything you want in a good story.
Watching the trailer they’ve captured the joy in the book. I was a little bit worried about going to see this film. I knew that it would be emotionally trying and it would be so easy to focus on the sadness of Hazel’s story. But this trailer had definitely given me hope that it will look at the good as well as the bad.
Also I had no idea that Hazel’s Father was going to be played by everyone’s favourite Shape Shifting Bar Owner Sam Merlot (Sam Trammell). But you learn something new every day.
