In my high school years I read a lot of fanfiction A LOT.
I had a soft spot for Crossover stories, specifically in the vein of The Lord of the Rings with Pirates of the Caribbean. But every once in a while I’d find myself wandering over into other fandoms like Harry Potter.
If you’ve ever read fanfiction, you are probably very familiar with the concept of the Mary Sue. In brief Urban Dictionary defines the phenomenon as:
A female fanfiction character who is so perfect as to be annoying. The male equivlalent is the Marty-Stu. Often abbreviated to “Sue”. A Mary Sue character is usually written by a beginning author. Often, the Mary Sue is a self-insert with a few “improvements” (ex. better body, more popular, etc). The Mary Sue character is almost always beautiful, smart, etc… In short, she is the “perfect” girl. The Mary Sue usually falls in love with the author’s favorite character(s) and winds up upstaging all of the other characters in the book/series/universe.
Mary-Sues are everywhere and can serve an array of purposes. As the definition states the Mary Sue may be created by an inexperienced author. As they write more and get better at writing the Mary-Sues will eventually be replaced by well-rounded characters.
Or in the case of this gem, the author is using fanfiction to insert themselves into a story to fulfil a fantasy. I first came across the fanfiction My Immortal while at a Convention. One of the late night events was a Bad Fanfiction Reading, this of course was the masterpiece.
You see My Immortal is considered THE WORST FANFICTION EVER.
I was unable to find the original fanfiction file, but I was able to find a re-upload by someone else. Their tagline read:

What is the story of My Immortal you may ask? The moderator of http://myimmortalrehost2.webs.com/ describes the story as:
My Immortal is a very loose Harry Potter fanfiction story about Ebony (or Enoby) Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way, a gothic teenage vampire girl who attends Hogwarts school. To say anymore may spoil the lulz. The story is infamous for its horrible abuse to the english language and extreme gothic attitude.
But to my surprise it gets better. A group of self-proclaimed Potterheads have taken it on themselves to bring this monstrosity to life. I have to give them credit, delivering some of their lines would hurt my heart a little.
