The Sun is Also a Star: Behind the Scenes

The Sun is Also a Star was one of my favourite books that I picked up at Book Expo America this year. I’m not normally a contemporary romance fan, but this book… it made me feel things. It’s a quick and easy read and I highly recommend it.

Check out our review of the book here.

Both of Nicola Yoon’s novels have gorgeous covers. They’re colourful, eye catching and totally unique.

I was really excited to find out that the string art for The Sun is Also a Star’s cover actually existed as a physical piece. It was really cool to watch this video to see the process that Dominique Falla went through to put it together.

When it comes to my string artwork, I don’t really plan the string beforehand. But I certainly have a set of rules that I work to

It’s an interesting process and the final product is beautiful. I can’t say enough how much I really love this cover.

If you want to see more of Dominique Falla’s work, check out her website. Specifically her post about this project.

The cover gods have smiled upon Nicola Yoon and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for her next. Here’s hoping it’s as bright and striking as what has come before it.

Alexandra is always looking for the next book she can devour. She has a love hate relationship with teen fiction specifically when it comes to fantasy, post apocalyptic and failed shakespeare adaptations.
