Rest In Peace Adam West

When I was a kid, the best part about staying home sick from school was watching Batman on Space. I’d curl up on the couch with my Dad and he’d let me have a lollipop or some other contraband candy and we’d watch the show together.

And I loved it.

It was cheesy, it was a little bit ridiculous, but the cliffhanger ending managed to get me every time. Hell I had it memorized.

Batman was charming, funny and the show fell into a pattern that was comforting for me as a kid. I knew Batman would always come out on top. He had a gadget for everything, and it was conveniently labeled.

For a kid who’s ultimate hero was Batman, this show was my everything.

To this day if you were to ask me who’s Batman, I’d say Adam West. In an age where super heroes aren’t allowed to smile, it’s nice for a little bit of silliness.

So rest in peace Mr. West. You’ll always be my Batman. Wherever you are, I hope you don’t need any shark repellent.

Thanks for everything.
